How to make toast bread in the oven

Preheat your oven to 180C/365F.

Place the bread slices enough to fit on a rimmed baking tray, place the tray in the center shelf of the oven

Bake the toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown, flipping it halfway through.

Take them out of the oven, spread some butter on top of your bread, it is now ready to be served.

Broiler method

Preheat the broiler for about a minute, you can set it to low as the high setting may burn the bread if care is not taken

Arrange the plain bread slices in a rimmed baking tray, place the tray in the oven about 2 lines away from the broiler. Cook for 2-3 minutes, flip the bread and continue to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until you get your desired level of brownness.

PS: do not leave the bread unattended if you use this method. Also do not place the tray directly under the broiler as you may end up with burnt toast.

Air fryer method

Arrange the plain bread in the air fryer basket. There is no need to butter or spray the bread with cooking oil.

Air fry at 180C/360F for 6-8 minutes flipping it halfway through or until golden brown

Spread for toast

These are the most popular spreads to put on your toasted bread. You can either choose a sweet or savory spread depending on your preference.

Butter: this can be salted or unsalted, if you are vegan or lactose intolerant then you can use plant-based butter. Try it with honey butter, it is so good, take it up a notch and add cinnamon.

Jam and preserves: Strawberry jam, chutneys, lemon curd, marmalade, vegemite, marmite, or jelly

Nut butter: Peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, pistachio butter, and many more
