Ever tried freezing your homemade waffles for later use? Waffles are a delicious breakfast food. They're crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a perfect amount of sweetness to them. But waffles can be even better if they're frozen!

This blog post will tell you all about how to freeze and reheat waffles so that you can have fresh-made waffles anytime you want!

Believe it or not, waffles are one of the most popular breakfast foods in America. They're also delicious and easy to make! If you want to save time on weekday mornings, here are some steps for freezing waffles ahead of time.

This storage and reheating technique is great for homemade or store-bought waffle mix

How to freeze waffles

Cook the waffles according to instructions or as you would normally do until fully cooked. Allow them to cool down completely.

While the waffles are cooking, cut some parchment paper to the sizes of the waffles (small rectangular sheets that will be enough for the waffles you are cooking)

Stack the waffles by laying parchment paper between each waffle. Transfer to a freezer-safe bag or an airtight container. Label the freezer bag, remove as much air as possible from the bag, and freeze for up to three months.

Alternatively

Flash freeze the waffles: line a baking tray with parchment paper, place the cooled waffles in the tray in a single layer and cover with a plastic wrap to stop it from catching the smell in the freezer and freeze for 2 hours.

Transfer the frozen waffles into a freezer-safe bag or an airtight container.

Tips

  • Make sure the waffle is completely cool before freezing
  • Ensure to place a sheet of wax paper between each waffle to prevent them from sticking together
  • To avoid freezer burnt, double wrap the stack of waffles in plastic wrap (cling film) before placing it in a freezer bag
  • Label with date and contents for easy identification

How long to store waffles in the freezer?

The recommended storage time for frozen waffles is around three months for optimum freshness.

How to cook frozen waffles

You can cook frozen waffles directly from frozen in the oven, air fryer, toaster, or microwave. The latter is the least favorite way of reheating waffles as it becomes too soft and hardens up once cooled.

Also, there is no need to thaw the waffles before reheating.

How to reheat waffles

you can reheat frozen or leftover waffles in the air fryer, toaster, microwave, or oven. My most preferred method is the air fryer and toaster, but that is me, you can use any of the methods listed below to suit your individual needs

Air fryer instructions

Preheat your air fryer to 350F/180C.

Spread the frozen waffles evenly in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other too much. Cook the frozen waffles in the air fryer at 180C/365F for about 5 to 8 minutes or until crispy and warmed through, flipping it halfway through the cooking time.

Start checking from 3 minutes as cooking time will depend on the size and the make of your air fryer.

Oven instructions

Preheat your oven to 350F/180C and line a baking tray with a parchment paper

Spread the frozen waffles on a baking sheet and cook in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until they are crispy and warmed through. Keep an eye so it doesn't burn You can flip them once halfway through for both sides to be crispy.

Toaster instructions

This is probably the easiest and quickest method of reheating waffles. Toast frozen waffles in your toaster for about two or three minutes depending on how hot your toaster is. Make sure you keep an eye on them so they don't burn!

Microwave instructions

Place the frozen waffle onto a microwave-safe plate and warm in the oven for 60 to 90 seconds or until fully cooked.
