We all know that fruits are important for our health, there are many different fruits that start with the letter a, and they all have their own unique qualities. Some of the most common ones include apples, apricots, avocados, and Ambarella. In this article, we will learn about some more exotic fruits starting with the letter A!

You probably wondering why you need to learn or know fruits in their alphabetical order, well, there are many benefits to this, but the most common ones are academic reasons or just for fun.

I am sure you are here just like me to learn a new thing or two from this article. Before now, I was only familiar with the common fruits that start with a such as apples, avocado, apricot, Amaou strawberry, and African walnut.

Some of these fruits mentioned in this article are not readily available around the world right now but hopefully, they would in the nearest future. Read on with me to learn more.

Ambarella

This fruit is also known as the Golden Apple. This plant has a golden yellow color and sweet taste, it can be used in jams or eaten raw.

The pulp of its fruits contains high amounts of Vitamin C which makes it perfect for those who are on strict diets that require extra vitamin intake!

Avocado

You may have seen them in the grocery store, or even eaten one. Avocado is a very popular fruit, it has many uses and can be used in different dishes.

Avocado is super healthy, delicious, and versatile! They can be eaten raw or cooked so there are countless ways to enjoy them.

It is also known as 'alligator pear', It has high amounts of Vitamin B which makes it perfect for vegetarians who are not getting enough vitamins from meat sources!

Apricots

This fruit has a sweet taste and can be eaten raw or cooked, it goes well with other dishes. It has high amounts of Vitamin A, which helps the eyes stay healthy by preventing macular degeneration.

It has traditionally been used to treat colds and diarrhea, but it also tastes great when combined with other fruits!

Apricots are usually orange, but they can also be yellow or red in color!

Ackee

This fruit is very popular in Jamaica, and it can be found all over the world now. Ackee is used as a vegetable in the culinary world and it has to be cooked before you can eat it. In Jamaica, the fruit is popularly paired or cooked with salt fish.

The ackee tree belongs to the Sapindaceae family which also includes other fruits such as lychee and longan!

Abiu

This fruit is very popular in Brazil, and it has a sweet taste. It also has seeds that are edible but they need to be boiled or roasted before consumption!

Apple

Apple is one of the most common fruits known around the world. It can be used in salads, desserts, and even drinks!

There are many varieties available including red apples or green ones. Apple's stem is used to make apple cider vinegar

The health benefits of eating apples are amazing because they have high amounts of Vitamin C which fights off infections, prevents cancer and other diseases.

They are also rich in antioxidants that protect your body from bad' substances that can damage the cells of your body. An apple a day keeps the doctor away they say!

African walnut

This fruit is grown in Nigerian and some other West African countries. It is also known as Asala. The fruit grows from a climbing shrub and it is seasonal.

Walnuts are boiled or roasted before you can consume them. It is similar to tigernut as you have to peel or crack the outer pod to reveal and enjoy the walnut fruit itself.

You can eat it on its own or serve it with corn on the cob or rice. No, African walnut is not the same as the common walnut used in recipes.

Acerola cherry

This is another fruit that starts with a, it is considered a super fruit! This plant belongs to the Malpighiaceae family which includes other exotic fruits like carissa bispinosa!

This plant's fruits contain high amounts of Vitamin C and can be eaten raw or used for jams.

Asam payak

This fruit is unique in that it can be eaten fresh or cooked, and its leaves are used for medicinal purposes in Malaysia.

Asam Payak is a small to medium-sized fruit, with one bulbous end that tapers into a point. The scaly outer skin of this fruit peels off in pieces when it's been peeled.

Beneath the tough red or yellow peel are cream-colored lobes encasing at least two hard brown seeds protected by juicy pulp-infused tropical flavors like starfruit. Asam Payak is sour in taste but very edible and highly nutritious.

Anonas

This fruit belongs to the Caricaceae family which also includes other exotic fruits like Carica papaya!

Anonas tree can grow up to 15ft tall, they produce fruits that are oblong shaped with dark green skin!

This tropical fruit has a sweet taste but some people find it to be a bit sour! annona fruit is also known as custard apple or sugar apple.

Amaou Strawberry

It is a special type of Strawberry grown in Japan. This fruit is very sweet and has a yellow color, it can be eaten raw or used for jams too. This strawberry is also referred to as the king of strawberry and boy, is it expensive? Yes!

Paul Hollywood once bought 1 of these luxury strawberries for £350($476.98) in Japan in a recent food documentary.
