  • Freezer safe containers or
  • Souper cubes: this is basically an ice tray but in mega-size
  • Or silicon molds with lids

How to freeze spaghetti sauce

There are two possible ways to freeze your spaghetti sauce. You can either freeze in containers (shallow ones preferably) or freezer bags, both of them work equally well. When you are ready to enjoy your spaghetti sauce, thaw the portion you need and just reheat in a saucepan or microwave.

How to freeze spaghetti sauce in bags: Make sure the sauce is completely cooled, portion the spaghetti sauce into heavy-duty freezer bags. Remove all air from the bag before sealing it tight. You can use a straw to suck out the air or use a vacuum sealer.

Another way is using the microwave, this is great when time is of the essence or in a bowl of cold water. You place the container/sealed bag of the frozen sauce in a bowl of cold water. You then change the water every half hour until the sauce is fully defrosted.

How long to freeze spaghetti sauce

It will freeze for up to 3 months but you can, however, freeze it for longer provided it is stored under the right condition. For best results freeze at 0° or below and keep frozen until ready to use.
