How To Boil Mushrooms (Boiled Mushrooms)

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g mushrooms I used cremini substitute with closed cup/ white button mushrooms or any other of choice.
  • 1 garlic clove chopped optional
  • ½ Tablespoon olive oil substitute with butter optional
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Trim off the ends of each mushroom and place it in a bowl or colander and discard the trimmed. Clean the mushroom by wiping it with a damp cloth or rinsing it under cold running water.
  • Add the mushrooms to a clean saucepan, add olive oil, garlic cloves (if using) then season with salt, pour water over the mushrooms until they are just covered in water, cover the saucepan with a lid.
  • Bring to boil for about 5 minutes on medium-high heat, reduce the heat, let it simmer for another 10 minutes or until the mushroom is done, and fork-tender. Remove the boiled mushroom with a slotted spoon and transfer it to a plate or bowl.
  • Season with black pepper and chopped parsley and serve as desired.

Notes

If using another type of mushrooms other than cremini (chestnut) or closed cup/white button, adjust the cooking time accordingly.
How to store
leftover boiled mushrooms can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and up to 2 months in the freezer in an airtight container or a freezer-safe bag.
